Many logs were shipped overseas whole, but we also saw factories producing sawn lumber and plywood. If Sarawak must cut its forests, it is good if they can do some of the wood processing too. Exporting finished products means more jobs and profits stay in the country, rather than go to foreign countries with the raw materials.
